     The AcaBelles are Florida State University's premier all-female a cappella group established in 2000 by a girl with a dream! We sing all kinds of music ranging from 80's style such as Bon Jovi to the new European sounds of Imogen Heap to the folk rock songs of KT Tunstall. Performing on-campus several times a semester, at local gigs, and competing once a year in ICCA continues to be the most important way to promote our name and entertain thousands. The AcaBelles sing frequently at various on-campus causes and meetings like AIDS awareness and Women's Rights candlelight vigils. On a broader scale, we have supported and performed at an annual concert called Random Acts of A Cappella where the proceeds have gone to national outreach funds like Hurricane Katrina and Invisible Children. Traveling as far as Washington DC, the FSU AcaBelles continue to spread the incredible sounds of all-female cappella and represent FSU in high regard.

   

AcaBelles have already begun work on our 2nd studio album. If you are a fan of AcaBelles or just a fan of A Cappella and would like to make a donation towards our latest venture, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all our fans for their support!

Congratulations New AcaBelles!!! 
 
That's right, auditions are over and we have chosen the new 'Belles for the 2008-2009 year! There are seven amazing new 'Belles and we are so excited to have them in the group they are:

Soprano 1: Melissa Land
Soprano 2: Kenley Flowers and Rachel Caitlin White
Alto 1: Kayleigh Ragan-Edwards and Lindsay Padell
Alto 2: Julie Lefler and Camille Trzcinski

Fall 2008 Audition Updates!!!

If you are interested in auditioning for AcaBelles, please please please don't forget about the FSU A Capella Information Meeting on Sunday August 24 in Moore Auditorium of the Oglesby Union. Auditions will be held Monday August 25 and Tuesday August 26 from 6-8:30 PM in Room 206 of the Kuersteiner Music Building.  (Look below for the requirements) Call backs will then be August 28 at 6:30 PM in Room 340 of the Kuersteiner Music Building. We hope to see  you there!

 Also, if you have any suggestions for questions for this year's biographies on the lovely ladies in hot pink, please e-mail the WebMistress with them. We'd love to see what the fans want to know. This is going to be a great year!

Fall 2008 Auditions

AcaBelles in conjunction with FSU's other a cappella groups, Reverb and All-Night Yahtzee, will be holding an information meeting on Sunday August 24 at 2PM in Moore Auditorium in the Oglesby Union. We will be discussing audition procedures and requirements, activities that are planned for the upcoming school year, and answering any questions you might have. We can't wait to see you there!

Auditions will be held the evenings of Monday, Aug 25 and Tuesday, Aug 26 in the Kursteiner Music Building on the Florida State campus. Further details will be given very soon.

For your audition, please prepare a verse and chorus of a song of your choice, preferably not classical. Be aware that you may have have your range tested, as well as your sight-singing and listening skills.

 Looking at the Past and the Future 

 On April 19, AcaBelles had our final concert for the 2007-2008 school year. We had some really great times this year spanning from hosting the Xtension Chords, to duking it out at ICCA, even to singing in the pouring rain at FSU's Relay for Life event. This has truly been one of the best years for AcaBelles and each and every one of us would like to thank our fans for their support and allowing us to have such an amazing year. Also on April 19 we bid a final farewell to 6 wonderful 'Belles and announced the officers for the 2008-2009 year.

We unfortunately had to say goodbye to Heather Kufert, Hilary Passo, Kristina Rodriguez, Chelsea Rodriguez, Diana Galeano, and Jackie Saavedra. Each 'Belle received the honorary AcaBelles graduation cord and a little something special from the AcaBelle family. Thank you girls for making AcaBelles all that it is and we will truly miss you next year.

Now comes the time to announce next year's officers. The Officer Board is completely voted on by the members of AcaBelles and it has been decided that next year's board will be as follows:

  • Vice Pres. of Finance- Monica Valdes
  • Vice Pres. of Travel- Lauren Barreiro
  • Secretary- Cara Pickelsimer
